Bushnell Falcon 133410 – what makes it worth your money

Field of view

One thing for sure is that the field of view of Bushnell Falcon 133410 binoculars is no less than expensive binoculars. 420 feet is the top feature for field of view of the binoculars world, we 100% guarantee that. This field of view from Bushnell Falcon definitely fulfills various outdoor requirements: birdwatching, hunting, nature observation, sports spectation,…

  • For this characteristics, we rate: 9/10

Optics quality

The Bushnell Falcon 133410 binoculars use BK-7 glass, which is not the best option. Oftenly, BK-4 is the more favored one. However, the fact that this Bushnell Falcon is fully multi coated shows that light transmission is not a problem at all.

In actual experiments, we don’t have any complaints about optics quality. The image is bright enough to give full enjoyment in any nature sightseeing trip.

  • For this characteristics, we rate: 7.5/10

Image reproduction

The porro prism allows high contrast from Bushnell Falcon 7×35. Along with that, we see that the image is crisp and sharp. For color fidelity, it’s more than fine. What we saw was vivid yet stayed quite true to the reality in terms of color. Specifically, the image quality and color resolution could be similar to the Leupold Mojave 10×50 Binoculars. But the thing is that the Leupold Mojave is around $1000, while the binoculars Bushnell we’re discussing is below $50.

From our point of view, at the end of the day, the most favorite feature of this category could be the contrast. The porro prism from Bushnell Falcon 7×35 brings wonderful contrast, and sounds quite exciting to hunters. These binoculars Bushnell are helpful in recognizing similar color objects in forest areas or so. Combining with the 420 feet field of view, you can totally feel pleased to enjoy your hunting trip.

  • In general, for this characteristics, we rate: 8/10

Low-light performance

We haven’t tested this Bushnell 7×35 at nighttime because based on the data, we wouldn’t think it’s suitable for astronomy. However, we do test it on cloudy days. The result was not out of expected, quite good. It did just well enough to have a clear view in unideal weather conditions.

  • For this characteristics, we rate: 7.5/10

Focus system

Obviously, the most prominent feature is the Bushnell insta focus. The Bushnell insta focus brings amazing ability of focusing from very far distance, with a sharp clear image. All you need to do is press the insta focus lever between the barrels. Again, it sounds really exciting to hunters.

Other than Bushnell insta focus, the focus switching of this Bushnell 7×35 is quite smooth and fast. There’s only one problem: when used near infinity, the focus-knob rocker must be rotated far to the left, thus making the finger slots slightly awkward to use for refining the focus. But it’s not that bad to consider it a weakness.

  • For this characteristic: we rate 8/10

Weight

As a 7×35 model, these Bushnell Falcon binoculars are supposed to be lightweight. However, it is light for such porro binoculars (usually porro prisms are heavier than roof prisms). Actually, this Bushnell Falcon 7×35 binoculars is lighter than the Nikon Aculon 7×35 (24.2 oz).

With this lightweightness, it won’t be a problem for anyone holding in their hand, even kids.

  • For this characteristic: we rate 8/10

Outer cover

Of course, you can’t expect the outer cover of a below $50 binocular to be something like Vortex Diamondback. But the rubber armor of Bushnell Falcon binoculars are tough enough to feel that on hand. Plus, the grippiness is fine to keep it safe for occasional careless moments.

  • For this characteristic: we rate 7/10

Bushnell Falcon 133410 – what to concern

As mentioned, there’s no such perfect product. It’s true this 7×35 binoculars one of the best binoculars under 50. But this Bushnell binoculars price is so low, you can’t expect it not to have any weaknesses. Here’s what could cause some concerns:

Close focus distance

20 feet is absolutely not good for close focus distance at all. We’re not a fan of using binoculars for insects or flowers watching so this characteristic doesn’t matter. But it would be not honest to list out this, especially for someone who wants to combine birdwatching and bug watching.

  • For this characteristic: we rate 3.5/10

Dimension and design

At first impression, this Bushnell binoculars 7×35 looks quite bulky. 8.00 x 6.25 x 3.00 inches is not a good figure compared to Nikon Aculon or Sky Genius. It’s still handy, even for kids, but it’s not a strength.

  • For this characteristic: we rate 5/10

Accessories

Rationally, you can’t expect this to be a strict criterion for cheap binoculars. However, it’s still a weakness.

  • For this characteristic: we rate 5/10

Lack of waterproof ability

Now this is the thing to be concerned absolutely. Close focus distance? Many would not care! Design? Not a big thing to cheap binoculars. Dimension? This Bushnell binoculars 7×35 still fits your hand and your luggages properly anyway. Accessories? Not a reasonable concern at this Bushnell binoculars price.

But waterproof does matter. You can’t expect your trip to be in ideal conditions all the time. Somedays it would unexpectedly rain. Especially, for countries with long rainy seasons and many unexpected rains like South East Asia, it’s quite a problem. You have to plan your trip carefully, and always have a raincoat packed with you in that season.

  • For this characteristic: we rate 3/10

Eye relief

12mm is not a good figure for eyeglasses people. For non-eyeglasses users, you can skip this feature.

  • For this characteristic: we rate 5/10

Bushnell Falcon 133410 – The verdict

After going through this binoculars review, will we recommend this Bushnell Falcon 133410? For beginners, yes of course. It’s a good start by any perspective: performance, easy to use, weight, price. Especially, we highly recommend this Bushnell Falcon 7×35 binoculars for kids. After all, it’s in our list of best binoculars under 50. Anyone with casual requirements of birdwatching, hunting, nature observation, sports spectation,… could definitely take this.

For the concern, there are  2 main problems to take notice of. One is the eye relief for eyeglasses wearers. Second is the lack of waterproof ability. Think of where you would usually go with this Bushnell Falcon and having to plan for weather carefully as decision making criteria.
